4)   Size and Contents of the Project (10 Languages)

The suggested project is composed of 10 sections (languages): English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (China), Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. These sections can be looked at as being independent, successive, parallel or integrated sections. Here are some ststistics on the users of these languages on the internet as of 2004 estimations ( the source : www.global-reach.biz ).

1-1  Islamic Culture in English on Internet (ICMAL- English):

This information will be produced to the largest numbers possible who use the English Language on Internet (about 280 millions). This number is about 36% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-2  Islamic Culture in French on Internet (ICMAL - French):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 41millions who use the French Language on Internet. This number represents about 4% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-3- Islamic Culture in German on Internet (ICMAL - German):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 62 millions who use the German language on internet. This number represents about 7% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-4- Islamic Culture in Italian on Internet (ICMAL - Italian):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 30 millions who use the Italian language on internet. This number represents about 3% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-5- Islamic Culture in Japanese on Internet (ICMAL - Japanese):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 88 millions who use the Japanese language on internet. This number represents about 10% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-6- Islamic Culture in Korean on Internet (ICMAL - Korean):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 43 millions who use the Korean language on internet. This number represents about 4% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-7- Islamic Culture in Mandarin (China) on Internet (ICMAL- Mandarin (China):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 170 millions who use the Mandarin (China) language on internet. This number represents about 14% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-8- Islamic Culture in Portuguese on Internet (ICMAL - Portuguese):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 32 millions who use the Portuguese language on internet. This number represents about 4% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-9- Islamic Culture in Russian on Internet (ICMAL- Russian):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 23 millions who use the Russian language on internet. This number represents about 3% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

4-10- Islamic Culture in Spanish on Internet (ICMAL - Spanish):

This information will be produced to address as many as possible of the 70 millions who use the Spanish language on internet. This number represents about 9% of those who use the Internet in the world, which are estimated to be 729 millions.

Contents:

The content of the project is general information about Islam and Muslims, their history, geography, economy, states, cities, biographies, achievements, social, political and cultural conditions. The updated and revised information is composed of thousands of entries, maps, photos, illustrations, tables and multimedia with an easy search and attractive means of presentation. Each section (language) is composed of an approximately:

  • 30,000 electronic format pages for each section (Language).

  •  5,000 main entries for each section (Language) and more than 30,000 research topics. Each research topic can be traced alphabetically, by word, subject, or state.

  • 3000 Biographies. 

  • 5,000 photos, maps, illustrations and statistical tables for each section (Language).

  • 500 video clips and sound tracks for each section.

  •  Multilingual index for the main entries. The user can enter any main research entry and can retrieve the material in any one of the above mentioned languages as desired.

  • Advanced full text and multimedia search by word, subject or state.
